WIP (Work In Progress) Help For Heroes Painting
The painting I am working on at the moment is a Tribute to all the brave servicemen & servicewomen of The Armed Forces who risk all and some pay the ultimate price for us all. The painting will be auctioned to raise as much as I can for the wonderful charity "Help For Heroes".

You can follow my progress from sketch to finished painting right here.
This is the initial basic sketch which I started on 7th November and it shows soldiers disembarking from a Chinook helicopter.I hope you follow my progress and if you wish to support me you can press the "donate" button on the "Just Giving" logo my homepage or click on the following link.

Even a small donation will help the injured & wounded men & women returning from Afghanistan & Iraq.

Started working on the Chinook helicopter putting in some detail and have started on one of the soldiers in the near background. I am enjoying painting this as it's different to what I normally paint. The enjoyment also comes from knowing that every penny raised from donations of support and the final auction of the painting will be helping our brave servicemen and women of the Armed Forces.

I have put in the soldiers in the near background and have started on one of the two soldiers in the foreground. I will be spending quite a bit of time on these two soldiers and putting in a lot of detail. Please check back soon and don't forget to donate whatever you can to help this very caring charity.

Dave, I have managed to put a few more brush strokes into the painting.(ha ha) Still a lot to do but have started to work a bit more on the soldier at the front left. I will be concentrating on getting the detail right on him before moving on to the soldier at the front on the right. It takes time to get it right by gradually building up the paint until the detail comes together.

Added a bit more detail to the front centre soldier and started to work on the soldier on the right. Once I have painted him I will go over both of these soldiers to add more detail such as the rifle and putting more detail into the shading and tones of their uniforms.

Added a lot more detail to the 2 soldiers at the front. Still need to go over a few more things and then check over the whole painting to see if there is anything I have missed off. Hope to have it finished and framed in early January ready for the auction night.

The painting is now finished and is being framed by Rennies Art in Liverpool. The Royal Marines Reserve Merseyside have offered to buy the painting and they have invited me to be their guest at an up coming dinner where I will present the painting to the RMR Merseyside Unit where it will remain on display. This is a very fitting home for the painting as the soldiers depicted are Royal Marines Commandos.
This will take my fund raising total to £1010 for Help for Heroes.
Thanks to everyone who has helped me to HELP OUR HEROES.
Thank you for your support. Don,t forget to leave a comment before you leave.
